Prudential Financial, Inc. is seeking a Director, Actuary to lead the Group Insurance Actuarial National Account Segment Pricing team.  The successful candidate will be able to offer technical pricing expertise, influence and drive business strategies, improve process and drive culture transformation by leveraging emerging technologies, optimize regulatory reform, and acquire/develop/assess talent. This candidate must also be able to collaborate successfully with other members of the Actuarial staff, as well as with Finance, Underwriting, Distribution, Product, Claims, Reporting, Reinsurance and IT business partners to achieve optimum results for Group Insurance coverage sold to employer groups of 5,000 lives and greater.

   

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Manage development and maintenance of pricing methodologies for core Group Insurance products including Life, AD&D, Long-Term Disability (LTD) and Short-Term Disability (STD) with specific focus on experience rating.
  • Lead timely case-level pricing support and represent Actuarial in pre-release pricing reviews for key national accounts.

  • Collaborate with key business partners to communicate updates, provide training, gather market feedback, identify methodology enhancement opportunities, and develop pricing models.

  • Identify and prioritize need for development of new pricing assumptions and updates of existing assumptions.

  • Direct team in peer review and pricing impact analysis of assumption updates.

  • Manage quality review and accuracy testing of rating tool updates.

  • Oversee team in preparation of state rate filings and compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related field.

  • ASA required; FSA preferred.

  • 6 years of actuarial experience required, with at least 3 years in Group Insurance Pricing

  • Proven ability to influence business partners and collaborate externally.

  • Superior technical skills with ability to model complex quantitative group insurance concepts.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to convey technical concepts to less technical audiences.

  • Talent mindset and leadership skills necessary to build a high-performing team and advance individual development. 

  • Awareness of industry trends and potential future events that may impact the business
