Container as a Service platform engineer, primarily focus on evaluating, certifying and operationalization of the kubernetes platform. This role requires ability to map new capabilities and features from infrastructure to services level including managing container tenant, provisioning, isolation, security and capacity. The right candidate will work in an agile framework to deliver new features and capabilities as necessary. Background in Linux and windows administration, virtualization, networking, and security will be required in successfully fulfilling this role. Occasionally providing level 3 support. Experience with application development lifecycles and CI/CD will be good to have. 

Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to Enterprise Container Strategy
  • Manage the container platform ecosystem (next-gen evaluations, provisioning, re-hydration, HA, capacity planning, monitoring)
  • Assist in change management of container platform for new versions, Hotfixes, SysAdmin tasks, etc.
  • Cluster capacity management and provisioning through automation of underlying hosts
  • Provides L3 engineering support
  • Works with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis of issues, review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing.
  • Authors/edits system documentation/playbook(s)
  • Partners with experienced team members to develop accurate work estimates on work packages.
  • May serve as a mentor on procedural matters to less experienced internal and third-party team members.
  • May assist experienced team members with the delegation of work load.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in application support or development or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Knowledge in information systems and ability to apply that knowledge in practice.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to solve problems in straightforward situations by analyzing possible solutions using experience, judgment and precedents.
  • Experience participating in IT projects.
  • Ability to communicate complex information in straightforward situations. 

Preferred Skills:

  • Have hands-on experience with at least 3-4 of the following:
  • RedHat OpenShift Container Platform
  • Docker Enterprise Edition
  • Linux administration (preferably RHEL/CoreOS)
  • Windows administration
  • Kubernetes
  • Micro-services
  • Gitlab/GitHub
  • Azure DevOps/Jenkins
  • Rally/VersionOne
  • Jfrog Artifactory/Docker Registry/Redhat Registry
  • Have working knowledge of on-premise infrastructure and cloud-based deployments and configurations along with monitoring and management
  • Have experience working with Agile teams and good understanding of Agile principles is strongly preferred
  • Banking or financial services experience.
  • Understanding of the air gapped environments.
  • Knowledge about Container design standards, patterns and best-practices
  • Knowledge about Micro-services design standards, patterns and best-practices
  • Proven track record of acting as SME for Container projects
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and good listening skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills - Ability to analyze problem in multiple perspectives.
  • Must have a -can-do- attitude and a strong passion for technology and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Must be confident, self-starters, have a strong work ethic, and team-oriented.
