Desktop Power & Performance Lead - 113662


As the overall Power and Performance Technical Lead of a key strategic, next-generation product you will drive and manage the integration of sophisticated components in a system a custom solution. This lead engineer is a multi-functional technical leader in our PC/Desktop business unit.

The person:

Leading technical specialists internally and externally to guide sophisticated products from end to end, from design to delivery, requires an unusual mix of technical breadth, problem solving, and soft skills. Its not for the overly introverted. It is for the results-oriented engineer who appreciates having a high-visibility role and making an impact. Successful power/performance engineers drive technical decisions and maintain an even keel. You will need to learn as you go and mentor along the way as well.

Key responsibilities:

  • Bring depth and expertise in power and/or performance tradeoffs

  • Speak SW not just HW

  • Understand power, performance, and thermal issues at system level

  • Own the process of optimizing power and performance attainment for Client APU/CPU products

  • Feedback system measurements and improvement areas to the various teams, including the power management architecture, IP, SoC, O/S, FW, and silicon enablement teams

  • Technically collaborate with all functions required to enable and optimize power management for Client APU/CPU products

  • Ensure system assessments and customer platform attainment to deliver industry best products

  • Advise the unit test, integration, optimization, and validation of all power management features via a core team passionate about this scope

  • Work with company-wide architects to set power and performance attainment objectives (IP, SoC, Power, Firmware, System)

  • Develop positive relationships with program stakeholders across the organization and development partners

  • Effective with communication and building respect while presenting status to executive level audience

Preferred experience:

  • Product development with hardware platforms and their software & firmware ecosystems.

  • Experience in the PC architecture space and familiarity with hands-on system setup & testing.

  • Direct technical experience on APU/CPU system performance analysis and micro-architectural power management.

  • Excellent verbal communication and written, presentation skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, planning, and technical leadership skills.

  • Proven track record to deliver large multi-functional technical work.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced matrixed technical organization and multi-site environment.

Academic credentials:

  • Bachelors Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant subject area.

  • Masters Degree (MS) preferred
