Auto req ID: 231874BR Job Description The Director of Gatorade/Sport Design - Is a senior design leader responsible for the identification, creation, management, and execution of comprehensive brand design strategies that will have a major impact on the innovation and growth of multibillion dollars brands across the Sport and Fitness Business Unit (SFBU) Group (North America Beverage). Specifically, responsible for the Gatorade Sport and Fitness portfolio of brands (Gatorade, Muscle Milk, Propel and Evolve). S/he will develop design strategies for specific brands in the Gatorade business units portfolio and work in partnership with Marketing, R+D, Sales, Foodservice Group, PepsiCo Design Center and external agencies to translate the brands' positioning into a compelling design language which is focused enough to be ownable and distinctive, yet flexible enough to work across all of the brands' multiple touch points with consumers from advertising and digital interactions to delivery trucks and store displays. Design Leadership: Leads design strategies within the Gatorade Design Group: demonstrating an ability to understand the technical, social and emotional values that have critical business significance. Successfully directs multi-disciplinary design teams and actively mentors design colleagues. Maintains a flow of value through the integration of the business strategies, market and social trends, and available latest technologies. Develops and adjusts strategies and/or processes to meet changing market and competitive conditions. Design Network: Supports the PepsiCo Design Organization in building and cultivating a strong internal and external design network. Talent Development: Responsible for finding and attracting the best design talent and for leading and mentoring internal staff. Establishes objectives, supervises activities, and manages performance. Plays an active role in expanding talent bench depth, building office atmosphere and coaching teams to win. Accountabilities: Lead a dynamic design team of 15+ of brand design managers, designers (of multiple disciplines), project managers and commercialization experts. Responsible for building and managing multi-million dollar budget and annual management Create high quality design solutions by overseeing teams executing design as well as leveraging all design resources both in-house and via external partners Oversee all design aspects for SFBU from highly strategic brand initiatives and innovation to extending through brand building initiatives Ensure design alignment to evolving brand standards with emphasis on brand consistency Sell the team's design concepts and propositions to Marketing partners, meet with customers, and represent the Design & Innovation team with all key stakeholders Present design strategy/concepts in a clear and concise manner - excellent presentation skills are required Ideate and construct ideas within a team-based design environment by creating a culture of What if and How might we Participate and contribute in brainstorm sessions and consistently use sense of creativity, foresight and good design judgment in developing and applying marketplace trends Consistently meet project deadlines and maintain a high level of work while managing multiple projects Qualifications/Requirements A gifted manager and leader Through past experience and case studies, shows strong ability to create and enhance consumer experience at all points of consumer brand interaction 10+ years of experience, with a passion/experience on sport teams/fitness brands Ability to multitask - Excellent time and project management skills Extraordinary design taste and skill with an excellent sense of sports culture, retail, tech, music, and design trends Experience in brand strategy and brand identity development processes so they can translate brand principles into athlete/consumer experience Should understand components of (and reasonable costs) associated with project estimates Great knowledge of art production and graphic design principles with deep understanding of project timelines/scheduling with the ability to guide those less versed through a design process, milestones and production Effectively communicates (verbally and written) with internal and external stakeholders across all levels with strong presentation design skills (Keynote) and exceptional understanding of how to present to internal and external audiences Excellent at navigating a highly matrixed organization and be able to generate excitement and sell teams ideas to influence and inspire key stakeholders Ability to work in the ambiguous and dynamic work environment; is comfortable with risk and uncertainty with an appreciation of business realities and needs Can effectively influence senior levels in the organization across regions and functions Can get things done through formal and informal channels Must be willing and able to travel 25% of the time Relocation Eligible: Eligible for Standard Relocation Job Type: Regular All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.
