*Client Services and Operations*

In the Client Services and Operations division at Edward Jones, youll focus on creating the ideal client and branch experience. From account opening, to trade settlement and movement of client cash and securities, to statement production and tax reporting, Operations is involved every step of the way. As the backbone of the branch, your work will support all client transactions and processing through the life cycle of the client relationship. Through strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration, youll continuously identify opportunities for operational efficiency and risk mitigation, supporting the firm in its key objectives.


Position: Department Leader Canada Operations

The Department Leader is responsible for leading Team Leaders and/or higher-level individual contributors to achieve business results cross-divisionally in support of the division's/firm's strategies and objectives. The critical responsibilities of a Department Leader - Operations Optimization include:

Responsibilities:

* Full managerial responsibility for a department which includes high level individual contributors and/or team leaders.
* Provides leadership, development, and mentoring to associates, high level contributors and Team Leaders.
* Leading moderate to large scope projects simultaneously, within a functional area or at times spanning multiple areas, divisions, or outside vendors. These projects routinely carry a moderate higher degree of risk.
* Leading vendor selection. Managing vendor relationship throughout the life of the project.
* Manages relationships with vendors, regulators, technology, external auditors, and stakeholders that are often across multiple divisions and locations. This includes: influencing, collaborating, building consensus, and partnering with these entities, throughout the decision making process; working with them on system issues, and participating in negotiations with current vendors, renewals, and new contracts
* Anticipates, analyzes, recommends and implements solutions to department and multiple-department problems (and in some cases division problems) regarding processes, systems, products, regulation, data collection, data quality, resource allocation, controls, and costs.
* Develops and executes on-going improvements to all processes related to the department as well as divisional opportunities.
* Decisions are complex, multi-faceted and non-routine and require the exercise of sound judgment and assumption of business risk. Decisions involve assessing risks, managing risks and controls, and developing plans to mitigate and minimize risks, which include financial, control, service and regulatory risk.
* Must have ability to solve difficult problems in gray areas where little or no guidance is available, considering both the upstream and downstream impacts to the department. Must interpret regulations, internal policies, procedures, and guidelines in US and/or Canada to solve problems and implement solutions.
* Actively participate on various Industry Committees and drives industry initiatives to proactively address regulatory or client service matters. At time represents the firm in visits with regulators, external auditors, industry events, and other audiences (e.g. IIAC, IIROC Committees, CLEIDIS, FundSERV Standards, etc).
* Through the team coordinates business efforts, being the key business contact on the project and performing project management from a business perspective.
* Establishes and maintains effective communications and relationships across departments, business areas, vendors, and countries.
* Development and execution of data and analytics for Division.

Requirements:

* University or College degree with a concentration in business preferred, accounting, finance or management are preferred.
* CSC and CPH required within 12 months of hire.
* LLQP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma would be an asset.
* 8+ year of significant industry experience in increasingly responsible positions is required;
* 5+ years management experience in the financial industry leading leaders and associates is required;
* Experience with project and/or functional leadership in the industry including 3-5 years of experience leading projects.
* Experience must include getting results through others.
* Experience must include driving, development and successfully executing process automation initiatives and process improvement.
