**Department Head Laboratories (m/f/d)**

at our PGS site Freiburg, Germany

In this role you are responsible for leading the different functional laboratory units professionally, organizationally and in compliance with the respective guidelines and laws (AMG/ AMWHV/ GMP). Your direct reports are the Senior Managers of the Quality Control Unit (Routine Labs), the Quality Analytical Services Group (Non-Routine Labs) and the Packaging Service Center (Routine Lab for Release of packaging materials).


+ Follow the "lean lab principles" and evolve them across the laboratory units

+ Coordinate the scheduling and ensure schedule-adherence of all laboratories for Release of raw material/ packaging material/ bulk material, and completion of analytical method transfers, method validations and analytics to support qualification projects

+ Minister the contract laboratories and qualifications projects across laboratory units

+ Ensure the adequate availability of IT-systems and their enhancements for the entire laboratory units respecting the evolving current GMP and Data Integrity requirements

+ Chair Managing the Site Validation Committee

+ Report regularly to the Director Quality and the Site Leadership Team

+ Manage and control the budget for your area of responsibility in close collaboration with the QO Business Analyst

+ Support the resource scheduling and contribute and coordinate talent development

+ Ensure sustainable junior staff development (e.g. apprenticeship for laboratory technicians)


+ Natural scientific University degree, preferably in chemistry or pharmacy, graduation PhD desirable

+ Substantial experience in pharmaceutical analytic and production, among others multi-year practical knowledge in qualitative and quantitative analytics or other quality tests of pharmaceutical products according to 15 AMG

+ Multi-year experience in managing quality control, also in international companies

+ Broad knowledge of the relevant global GMP-Guidelines and country-specific pharmaceutical laws and regulatory requirements and appropriate continuing education and professional development

+ Very good command of the English language and fluent knowledge of German in written and spoken language

+ Clear problem-solving mindset and very good organizational skills

+ Ability to summarize complex facts into key points and convince others with your ideas

+ Distinct managerial and leading personality

+ Resilience, ability to work under pressure and empathy
