The Intelligence group provides high-end systems engineering and integration products and services, data analytics and software development to national and military intelligence customers. Perspecta has an immediate need for a Data Scientist in Bethesda, MD.

Involved in the analysis of unstructured and semi-structured data, including latent semantic indexing (LSI), entity identification and tagging, complex event processing (CEP) and the application of analysis algorithms on distributed, clustered and cloud-based high-performance infrastructures.

Exercises creativity in applying non-traditional approaches to large-scale analysis of unstructured data in support of high-value use cases visualized through multi-dimensional interfaces. Handle processing and index requests against high-volume collections of data and high-velocity data streams. Ability to make discoveries in the world of big data.

Utilize advance tools and computational skills to interpret, connect, predict and make discoveries in complex data and deliver recommendations for business and analytic decisions.

Requires BA/BS with 10 to 12 years of experience or MS degree with 8 to 10 years of experience or a PhD with 5 to 7 years experience. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering/ Computer Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics or Data Mining, preferred.

• A minimum of 15 years of experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst in the IC.
• Professional/strong understanding of enterprise-level data analysis, machine-learning, operations research, modeling and business/mission intelligence tools.
• Experience developing, implementing, integrating and evaluating IC data architecture-related projects.
• Strong understanding of preprocessing of structured and unstructured data.
• Experience with data transport and transformation APIs and technologies such as JSON, XML, XSLT, JDBC, SOAP and REST.
• Cloud-based data analysis tools experience including Hadoop and Mahout, Acumulo, Hive, Impala, Pig, and similar.
• Experience with visual analytic tools like Microsoft Pivot, Palantir or Visual Analytics.
• Open source textual processing experience such as Lucene, Sphinx, Nutch or Solr.
• Prior experience with entity extraction and conceptual search technologies such as LSI, LDA, etc.
• Strong experience with machine learning, algorithm analysis and data clustering.
• Solid experience with software development, either in an open-source enterprise software development stack (Java/Linux/Ruby/Python) or a Windows development stack (.NET, C#, C++).
• Requires strong technical and computational skills - engineering, physics, mathematics, coupled with the ability to code design, develop and deploy sophisticated applications using advanced unstructured and semi-structured data analysis techniques, utilizing high-performance computing environments.

Specific functions:

• Strong background in research design, exploratory analysis, quantitative methods and user interface application design.
• Require a mix of intellectual curiosity, quantitative acumen and customer-focus to identify novel sources of data across a range of fields, to improve the performance of predictive algorithms and to encourage user adoption of high-end data analytics platforms in partnership with a highly qualified, highly motivated team.
• Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and take open-ended or high-level guidance, independently and collaboratively that make discoveries that are mission relevant and package and deliver the findings to a non-technical audience.
• Work closely with software developers, program managers and data analysts on small teams.
• Work on projects analyzing a variety of big data covering national security, cyber security and business intelligence.
• Work to influence project leadership regarding solution design, process and approaches.
• Utilize ingenuity and creativity to develop new technical solutions and systems.
• No remote/telework.

Candidates must possess a TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph level clearance.
