Responsibilities

An experienced Information Systems Security Officer with expertise in Cybersecurity Governance, Risk and Compliance with demonstrated experience in performing information assurance and cyber security analyses. Responsible for the assessing and documenting of compliance and risk posture as they relate to the its information assets. Provide highly skilled technical and information security expertise for development and implementation of the information security risk management program. Responsibilities require leadership and project management experience, as well as expertise to ensure effective system-wide security analysis; intrusion detection; standards and testing; risk assessment; awareness and education; and development of policies, standards and guidelines.

Responsible for supporting the Accreditation tasks for all classified program networks and will participate in the activities for compliance with client requirements.

Ensure compliance with the current information management/information technology (IM/IT) guidance and is responsible for information assurance, security compliance, detection, response, and recovery; and Certification and Accreditation (CA) of all systems.

Protect and sustain the information assurance requirements for system and information availability, access control, integrity, confidentiality and non-repudiation for these environments. This includes, specifically, performing analysis, identifying and implementing protection solutions, and preparing and maintaining engineering and security related documentation.

Perform vulnerability assessments, implementation of security controls in networking devices, databases, operating systems, hardware and software components, administer and managed IA Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA), and security POAMs

Support the system-wide information security compliance program, ensuring IT activities, processes, and procedures meet defined requirements, policies and regulations.

Perform analysis on any special compartments including verification of any special handling requirements, identifying systems processing sensitive but unclassified information requiring additional security controls, and by identifying the type of information processed.

Assess and implement the IA and cyber security posture of a system and the enclave which it resides is compliant with NIST 800-53 technical controls and develop / maintain associated certification and accreditation documentation.

Perform security systems engineering for various computer hardware and software operating system and application solutions in both stand-alone and LAN / WAN configurations.

Manage security features to mitigate vulnerabilities of various operating systems as defined by NIST, DISA (STIGs), and USCYBERCOM. Perform network and system security administration including operating system security configuration and account management best practices for Windows, Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint, Red Hat Linux, Oracle, and Cisco systems.

Perform vulnerability testing and mitigation

Qualifications

A strong technical understanding of a broad set of back office systems and applications (e.g., Windows operating systems, Active Directory, MS Office, internetworking, etc.).

A strong technical understanding and experience of applying and executing IA policies and tasks (e.g., reviewing SSPs conducting audits of operational systems by reviewing event logs, etc.).

Hands-on experience with configuration and maintaining networking devices (e.g., firewalls, switches, routers, encryption, etc.).

Necessary skills and perspective to advise and assist IT system engineers with defining and implementing IA and information system security requirements.

Ability to assess and ensure the IA posture of a system and the enclave.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with all employees along with demonstrated communication skills (good oral and written communication skills

Recommend programmatic and technical directions and operate with a high degree of independence in matters relating to the investigation, impact, and analysis of security incidents, decisions regarding risk, and measures for computer and network security.

Develop and implement effective and reasonable policies and practices to secure protected and sensitive data and ensure information security and compliance with relevant legislation and legal interpretation.

Knowledge of information security risk management frameworks and compliance practices.

Knowledge of securing network technologies, client, and server operating systems.

Ability to develop security standards and guidelines based on best practices and industry standards

Experience responding to, analyzing, and communicating information security incidents

Qualifications

Requires 2 to 5 years with BS/BA or 0 to 2 years with MS/MA/MBA or 8 to 10 years with no degree.

5 years of relevant Security Awareness experience

Advanced information system security certifications (e.g., CISSP or CRISC) desired

Bachelors degree in related discipline desired

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, including formal report writing experience.

Skills in documenting risk and compliance activities

Experience performing information security audits or risk assessment

Familiarity with security auditing processes
