Responsibilities

  • This Cyber Defense Information Assurance/Security Engineer (Cyber Defense Posture Evaluator) is responsible for providing technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems and independently determining and developing approaches to solutions to provide network cyber defense and operate security devices remotely and locally.
  • Secures system configurations and install security tools, scan systems in order to determine compliancy and report results and evaluate products and various aspects of system administration.
  • Provides assistance in computer incident investigations.
  • Performs vulnerability assessments including development of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develops and completes system security plans and contingency plans and provides assistance in computer incident investigations.
  • Recommends system enhancements to improve security deficiencies.
  • Implements proper backup procedures, walk remote users through backup and restoration actions, and accomplish the same locally.
  • Develops, tests, and integrates computer and network security tools. Prepares Security Test and Evaluation plans.
  • Evaluates different network and enclave configurations with respect to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-53 Security Controls and formulate and execute effective auditing and incident response programs.
  • Responsible for supporting the Risk Management Framework (RMF) Cretification and Accreditation (C&A) process, maintenance, POA&M development and maintenance, authoring RMF Policy/, Procedures, and similar activities.Responsible for compliance, identification of anomalies, and coordination with Signature Management personnel to develop custom host-based signatures to automate the detection of events of interest.
  • Provides general IT management support, general networking, Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN) enterprise, CONUS and OCONUS deployment/TDY travel, functional training, technical and general O&M, documentation and reports, and meetings/briefings to support Air Force Central Command (AFCENT) Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) operations.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in related field, and 5 or more years relevant experience; OR 7 or more years relevant experience.
  • Security+ or CCNA-Sec
  • MCP (Server), MCSD (App Builder), and ITIL Foundation
  • TS with SCI Eligibility
