What You'll Do

You are a high-energy, detailed individual with operations experience across RE/PM/FM that understands the wider implications of strategic change and provides thought leadership to challenge the status quo and drive step changes within the workplace function. In this role, you will...

  • Own and lead the PMO function for the region driving nascent initiatives to a leading delivery solution integrating across the Americas delivery team and the global WPR functions to deliver Workplace Services.
  • Work independently with occasional guidance and direction from leader before determining the best approach to accomplish work.
  • Act as a SME resource for theater director, theater peers, and global colleagues and leaders in WPR while continually driving improvements that positively impact the occupiers of Cisco spaces and the Cisco business.
  • Lead the Americas Theatre CMO / PMO teams to drive innovation in the delivery of projects and improvements in pipeline visibility, aligning to theatre strategic objectives.
  • Bring the latest market strategies / peer company approaches to WPR solutions to drive cardinal improvements in delivery solutions.

Focus on meaningful results...

  • Define successful outcomes for the PMO, map and track progress. Set goals at individual, team and organizational levels ensuring visibility and reporting on milestone status.
  • Define and measure objectives and key results (OKRs) to ensure focus on, achievement of and measurement of specific outcomes.
  • Develop tools and process to track progress, outcomes and benefits realized.
  • Eliminate process waste and guide teams toward continuous improvement. Identify and use targeted metrics and reporting to measure and report the true cost to value.
  • Assist in promoting sound investment strategies using data to help guide the portfolio towards the best possible outcome for the business.

Provide insightful business intelligence...

  • Provide targeted data to theatre leadership on ongoing activities, specifically data to either make a decision or take action.
  • Provide theatre leadership with substantial insights for the value of the work delivered through predictive innovation (Waterfall) and adaptive innovation (Agile) methodologies. Ensure that the data provided to decision makers helps to assure that the work being delivered brings the most value to customer and the company.
  • Provide relevant business insight through the collection of key metrics to allow leadership to evaluate initiatives, identify issues, implement necessary changes and if necessary, reevaluate.

Deliver value through focus and alignment...

  • Continually ask the right questions to ensure that the right solutions are built at the right time, that customer feedback is collected to enable timely decision making, ensure that projects deliver optimize value v cost, and challenge how the team can improve productivity.
  • Implement tools that provide demonstrable value and ensure that they are leveraged to the fullest degree.
  • Use automated fact-based feedback and performance metrics to support decision making from individual planning increments, to delivery of the overall portfolio.
  • Plan continuously and strategically rather than via an annual exercise to reflect changing circumstances.

Guide the entrepreneurial spirit...

  • Empower teams both in house and thru supporting consultants, and provide the autonomy they need to nurture creativity, drive productivity and improve delivery and employee retention.
  • Establish an adaptive and lightweight PMO solution that expects and plans for disruption and sees change as opportunity.
  • Collaborative: PMOs nurture team collaboration throughout the delivery process and clearly communicate what each team member is responsible for delivering. They also extend collaboration cross-functionally to better support the overarching business strategy. An agile tool built to enhance communication and collaboration is an invaluable aide.
  • Supportive: As teams grow more innovative, modern PMOs manage as lean coaches, supporting teams with continuous guidance, training, mentoring, facilitating and relationship building. They grow and push that entrepreneurial spirit in the best direction for the company. Once agile principles, values and mindset are pervasive, the business more naturally gravitates to the right decisions.

Affect business transformation...

  • Coordinate numerous moving parts: A successful transformation will involve every aspect of the organizationfrom the boardroom to the break room. That means deploying new processes and standard methodologies across functional and geographical boundaries. The PMO must be equipped with the tools to manage this process effectively.
  • Make informed, thoughtful business decisions: To ensure wise investing, different opportunities should be modeled to identify which initiatives are the best opportunities for business growth and resource savings, and those should be funded and pursued accordingly.

You will also cultivate agreement among all key stakeholders: It is essential to facilitate acceptance of changes at all levels and among all groups. Agreement may require the continuous tweaking of processes, so its important to remain flexible.

  • Track and document progress, measure success: As with any key initiative, it is essential that progress is efficiently and meticulously tracked. Measure results and track progress through meaningful data and regularly report success to the appropriate stakeholders to demonstrate the value of the transformation.
  • Work to understand WPR deliverables, standards, and operational processes/workflows (attend meetings, ask good clarifying questions, document understanding to facilitate process improvement).
  • Simplify and streamline WPR processes by identifying process improvements to drive speed and efficiency into standard practices.
  • Partner with corporate functions (IT, Corp Security, HR, Finance, Comms) to identify operational alignments to drive the client workplace experience.
  • Develop programs and initiatives for campus operational improvement by identifying common issues across the theater and strategize on implementation of programs and initiatives to resolve issues as a team.
  • Identify approach to planning and development to strategize on organizational structure to maximize the quality and efficiency of deliverables.
  • Development of a plan for the career growth of team members, including stretch assignments and job swaps, and align individual team member goals and career trajectories with opportunities across internal organization and Cisco.
  • Build and maintain a framework for important metric analysis and determine the most important metrics to focus on that drive operational improvement, handle and track building health, and track performance against critical metrics; analyze patterns in available data to surface opportunities and take actions to improve the workplace experience for clients.
  • Build and maintain client intel by capturing key performance indicators and other relevant data points to be shared quarterly with key clients and partners.
  • Organize staff meetings by working with leader and team to develop agenda, coordinate guest speakers, document and publish minutes, and track and follow up on action items.
  • Drive campus programs and initiatives by driving a matrixed team of theater and global peers in supporting implementation, documentation and communicating successes.
  • Plan success celebrations and lead post-mortems by working with the team to document takeaways and implementing needed changes into processes and workflows.
  • Develop and gather content for theater communications inclusive of stories, successes, etc and feeding into planned WPR communications.
  • Share data and standard methodologies with other Chiefs of Staff by meet with peers across WPR and operations.

You'll be in a highly visible and business impacting role. You will engage directly with the theater director, workplace team leads, theater peers and WPR leadership.

Who You Are

You love to continuously learn and share your knowledge with the broader team. You have led and aligned executives to drive a common prioritization process and lead large programs including transformation programs focused on digitization, process, and roles. In addition, you will use your extensive industry experience and solid background to lead cross-functional and distributed team collaboration.

  • You are proficient in the following software tools: Microsoft Project, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • You have advanced communication and presentation skills in addition to internal event management experience.
  • Ideally, you have a demonstrated knowledge of supplier management.
  • Other skills include business sense and judgment; independence; assertiveness; conclusive; strong communicator (written and verbal); ability to clarify ambiguity; personable; multi-tasker; change and Partner Management knowledge of Cisco functions, processes and capabilities strongly preferred and experience with metrics and scorecards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate can be located anywhere in the US
  • 15+ years related process improvement experience
  • MBA or BS in Finance, Business Administration or similar
  • Corporate Real Estate Professional qualification (MCR or similar)
  • Experienced in building and operating a regional or global PMO function
