What You Will Do

We are looking for a committed, creative, entrepreneurial Legal Counsel to join our Legal team that supports Cisco's enterprise and public sector business in Germany.

Your Role and Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing transactional legal support to the German sales teams, including drafting and negotiating agreements (e.g. RFP/RFI/RFQ responses, sales agreements, pricing letters, non-disclosure agreements, software licensing, cloud agreements, software-as-a-service agreements, IP and DP agreements, services agreements and dispute settlements) in line with Ciscos business strategy, policies and practices;
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to senior sales management and other supporting functions;
  • Analyzing and helping to resolve business and legal issues through clear, practical legal guidance;
  • Leading, coordinating and finalizing sales contract negotiations;
  • Consistently applying Cisco legal and business policies and practices to maintain the highest standards of corporate governance;
  • Identifying and managing the flow of key information both up the management chain as well as across the business clients;
  • Leading our efforts towards optimized processes;
  • Engaging in global, cross-functional projects working on key continuous process improvement initiatives across Legal Sales and Marketing; and
  • Developing and delivering presentations/legal training.

Who You Are

Your Minimum Qualifications we look for:

  • Fully qualified lawyer (2nd German state exam) with excellent academic records;
  • At least 5 years of broad commercial and corporate experience obtained at a top law firm practice and/or in a multinational in-house legal department.
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English and German are essential. Fluency in other European languages will be considered a plus; and
  • Willingness to travel as required by the business (of course as allowed given the current pandemic-restrictions).

Your Professional Experience:

  • Providing legal support in a multi-jurisdictional context;
  • Experience with technology product go-to-market models, distribution agreements, resale agreements, and services sales agreements with related knowledge of commercial, contract and technology law issues including intellectual property, software licensing, cloud and software-as-a-service, managed services and outsourcing types as well as data protection, security, and export-import regulations;
  • Understanding of and experience applying revenue recognition and other financial principles common to a US-based publicly traded company is a plus;
  • Experience handling competition and antitrust legal issues;
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team and pursue common goals;
  • Commitment to deliver exceptional customer service to internal clients and external customers, including anticipating and responding to customer/client requirements and consistently meet commitments and deadlines;
  • Demonstrated ability to be a change agent and readily embrace new and innovative approaches;
  • Significant experience negotiating business transactions and drafting complex agreements to a specific goal with little supervision.

  • Ability to operate efficiently in a highly-automated environment heavily dependent on e-enabled tools and communications systems; and
  • Having an open, ethical mind and sense of humor J
