Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health, founded in 1986, is an 82 bed facility within the city of Norfolk, Virginia. Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health offers comprehensive mental health programs in Virginia. We are a Universal Health Services facility that provides psychiatrically and medically managed acute, residential treatment, and partial hospitalizationfor children and adolescents with significant impairments in their social and emotional development.

We provide quality care to children and adolescents in need using quality, evidence based practice treatments. We are accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), and are licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).

Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health is seeking 2 dynamic and talented Full-TimeCook. *Some weekend hours are required.

Position Scope:

Preparing healthy and appealing food items as required for residents, staff, and guests.

Essential Functions:

Prepares food items as posted on weekly menu and for special functions or as required to

accommodate residents, staff and guests.

  1. Ensures department sanitation.

  2. Maintains compliance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)

  3. Inventory and order specific items and assist in ordering in absence of Dietary Manager.

  4. Demonstrate Service Excellence

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Must possess knowledge of basic food science, basic math, the ability to read, write, and follow oral and

written instructions, ability to estimate food requirements and the ability to disassemble, assemble,

operate and clean food service equipment; ability to interact with all people. An individual must be able to

perform each Essential Function of the job satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to

Education:

High school education or equivalent preferred, or combination of experience, skills and education.

Experience:

Two or more years of institutional or restaurant cooking experience preferred; previous supervisory

experience preferred.

Licensure:

Must possess and maintain a valid Food Handlers Card.
