The Business Entity
The Chief Technology and Architecture Office, led by David Ward, establishes the technology vision and strategy for the Cisco engineering organization. Through cross-functional engagement and close customer interactions, the CTAO team leads disruptive innovation transition and captures customer mindshare.

What Youll Do

As the leader of Communications in our Chief Technology & Architecture Office, you will develop and execute the communications plan across the entire organizations portfolio to include:

o Global Technology Projects

o Innovation Grand Challenges

o Innovation Centers

Activities include:

Plan and develop content and messaging

Work cross functionally with Marketing, PR and outside partners to develop strategy, content and amplification plan across programs

Partner externally and develop relationships to achieve measurable outcomes for Cisco

Evangelize organizational efforts internally and externally

An inspiring group of business and engineering experts who explore new business opportunities, technologies and architectures that make a meaningful difference for Cisco and the industry based on customer feedback, proof of concepts, and co-innovation with customers & ecosystem partners. CTAO oversees architectural governance and drives company-wide alignment of innovation activities through partnerships, external engagements, and community building.

You have these Skills and Attributes

Background in marketing, communications and public relations.

Excellent verbal & written communication and social skills are evidenced by your ability to take complex, technical information and make it easy to follow for executive and technical audiences.

Messaging, Communications Planning, Branding and Positioning Development

Strong leadership skills.

Strong project management and organizing skills the ability to develop, execute and manage a complex plan with hundreds of work elements, and multiple team members, and meet aggressive deadlines.

Detail-oriented, create documents and diagrams for a diverse and geographically dispersed audience, making them easy to understand while maintaining accuracy and preciseness at every step.

Thrive in a team environment and in a large organization with thousands of partners located around the world.

Strong stakeholder and change management skills. The ability to influence multiple functions at all levels, to close gaps in conflicting priorities and to align a core and broader virtual team to achieve a common goal.

High energy and sense of urgency. Self-starter and self-motivated. Thrive in a pressured environment. Exhibit drive and tenacity.

Confident in charting a path and making decisions with ambiguity and limited information, while at the same time identifying and managing risk.

Bias to action, able to move quickly and decisively and bring the team along with them.

Actively seek feedback from partners and teammates to ensure deliverables meet requirements and feel comfortable making as many changes as needed to meet requirements.

Our Minimum Requirements for this Role are

10+ years in media and communications

10+ years project management. Demonstrated large business project experience as lead PM or Program Manager.

Business Process and value chain development.

Budgeting and finance expertise.

Marketing and business development skills

Startup / incubator / accelerator skills / innovation ecosystem skills essential.

Silicon Valley experience and mindset is essential.

Strong Microsoft Office Powerpoint, Word, Excel, etc.


o Prior Cisco experience


o Big 4 consulting experience
