Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 DOE

The Clinical Manager will oversee clinical programming and provide oversight and leadership to clinicians, floor staff, and intake/UR. The clinical manager works closely with the Clinical Director, Administrator, and Milieu Managers to ensure effective implementation of services that meet regulatory statues and guidelines. Additionally,the Clinical Manager:

  • Tracks clinical documentation to ensure all paperwork (admission, discharge, and weekly) is completed by required timelines and is in compliance with regulations. Reviews and co-signs clinical documentation on a weekly basis and provides feedback as needed for corrections that need to be addressed
  • Audits treatment plans weekly, and provides supervision and training to therapists on how to improve treatment plans and ensure they are in compliance with regulations. Create outlines/guides as needed to facilitate trainings.
  • Schedules assignments of master level groups and tracks documentation of clinical group notes by therapists and leadership staff to ensure all master level groups are completed and facilitated accurately
  • Facilitates routine chart audits to ensure ongoing compliance with standards and regulations regarding required chart documentation
  • Updates treatment team schedule & unit roster according to admissions/discharges/ transitions and communicates to team members
  • Tracks outcome studies and patient satisfaction surveys and submits to corporate for statistical research
  • Assists with program development and facilitates training to clinicians and MHS staff regarding treatment modalities, policies, programming, precaution plans/statuses, etc
  • Attends and helps facilitate administrative and department meeting, unit staff meetings, clinical meetings, etc, and completes required CEUs annually.
  • Demonstrates a positive working relationship with all departments, unit staff, and treatment team members and facilitates immediate problem solving by providing pertinent information to various departments through use of verbal & electronic communication.
  • Conducts evaluations of clinicians and floor staff as needed and required (initial, 90 day, annual) and implements counseling statements, corrective actions, and performance improvement plans as needed
  • Provides input regarding the structure of the milieu (including coordinating daily unit schedules) and assists with the development of individualized special programs. Serves as a role model, support, and provides feedback to clinicians, MHS staff, and nursing through supervision, guidance, modeling, and mentoring both individually and within the milieu environment
  • Demonstrates effective time management, organizes work so that critical assignments may be completed promptly, accurately, and thoroughly.
  • Understands FTE management and overtime management, maintains familiarity with financial information, and effectively manages departmental operations within financial guidelines.
  • Establishes and maintains a good rapport with clinical providers, third party reviewers while maintaining an advocacy stance on behalf of the client; works to ensure any written materials requested by third party payers are provided in a timely manner within policy and HIPPA
  • derived standards.
  • Provides leadership and oversight in Intake, Utilization and Review processes; acting to ensure effective performance of core duties in these areas meet all standards of care at all times. Works proactively to maintain census within established budget.
  • Maintains tracking record of all Intake calls, marketing endeavors, patient accounts, discharge information, admissions, ADC vs Budget, Tricare and Payor mix, and referral sources and updates Clinical Director monthly.
  • Is main point of contact between Business Office and community providers (Geneva Woods, medical offices, etc) for insurance purposes.
  • Create and maintain updates on Growth Plans for Intake department annually and based on administrative goals.
Job Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: This position requires a master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field plusLCSWlicensure by the State of Alaska plus a minimum of three (3) years' work experience in a mental health or psychiatric setting is required. Supervisory experience is highly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to perform concentrated and/or complex mental activity with frequent involvement in complex and/or highly technical situations;
  • Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions;
  • Ability to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles;
  • Ability to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures;
  • Ability to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion;
  • Capability to adapt to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis;
  • Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Must possess a valid Drivers License in order to drive hospital vehicles.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

  • Must be willing and able to execute the patient de-escalation methods, both verbal and physical.
  • Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as State of Alaska Background Check and Drug Testing.
  • Must be able to demonstrate special training, knowledge and skills specific to age groups, as well as job and/or program specific competency within the first three (3) months of training.
  • Must be certified in CPR and Handle with Care within the first month of training and annually thereafter.
  • Must complete all required mandatory in-services annually.
  • Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire; PPD skin test required annually or chest x-ray annually thereafter.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

GENERAL WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Working conditions for all employees are as follows, but are not limited to a psychiatric hospital/RTC setting: risk involved in the event of aggressive patient(s); workload may include day, evening, night, weekend, and/or holiday shifts; occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, blood borne pathogens and body fluids, and loud noise levels. Mental demands described herein are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job, but are not limited to the ability to remain calm in a stressful environment; and the emotional stability, physical stamina and agility to handle stress and respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Physical requirements include, but are not limited to the ability to communicate effectively with patients, their families, staff and others; the ability to effectively utilize communication equipment; the physical agility to mange patients (ambulatory, non-ambulatory and physically aggressive); the ability to read (i.e. patient charts, written communication, regulations, written policies and procedures, etc.); and the ability to write (i.e. manual charting, written communication, etc.).

  • Must occasionally utilize physical ability for fingering or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, lifting/exerting force up to 50 lbs, reaching or stretching, crouching or stooping, smelling, and seeing with correction for color discrimination, peripheral vision, and depth perception and focusing ability.
  • Must frequently utilize physical ability for standing, walking, sitting, and seeing with correction for close and distance vision.
  • Must regularly utilize physical ability for speaking, hearting, and seeing with correction. Speaking and hearing may be necessary for conversing with and assessing patients.
  • Mental demands include but are not limited to emotional stability, physical stamina and agility to handle stress and respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED:Telephone, tape player, copier, fax machine, video player, small hand tools and writing instruments.
