AT&T has an opening for a Senior Network Engineer to support the US Space Force in providing consolidated defensive cybersecurity and cybersecurity intelligence.

Description of Responsibilities:
This position is to support our prime MAXAR in the development and launch of a low altitude constellation of satellites which will receive commands and data from the ground and act as a routing constellation to get data to theater users either directly or through the use of Link 16 protocols.

Job Duties:
  • Design and implement routing protocols (BGP-LS, OSPF, PCEP, etc.) that will be loaded into the low altitude spacecraft being designed, built and launched by MAXAR.
  • Work with AT&T Labs and other AT&T network engineering specialists to bring best of breed solutions to solve and implement a preferred routing protocol in satellites.
  • Work with MAXAR design team to implement those routing protocols in a Hardware in the Loop and Software in the Loop laboratory simulation to validate the algorithms ability to meet customer requirements.
  • Manage the interface between AT&T and AT&T labs to bring the best and the brightest off the shelf routing protocol solutions and software defined network (SDN) controllers to enable the satellites to maximize the efficiency of those routing protocols
  • Optimize the SDN architecture and routing protocols
  • Work with MAXAR engineers and designers in an IPT environment to solve the myriad of technical problems associated with making routers in space work and meet requirements
  • Be the prime technical interface between AT&T Labs and MAXAR
  • Identify staffing requirements and work tasks to meet contractual needs developed by MAXAR
  • Plan, develop and test the algorithms and report results
  • Being able to work as a team member, quickly assessing the information management needs of the customer
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; write comprehensive studies; and maintain good working relationships.
  • Strong networking skills in routing protocols and Software Defined Networks functionality and implementation including knowledge of control plane implementations of those routing protocols, convergence of those protocols and shortcomings of those routing and SDN functions.
  • Prepare and present briefings, reports, informational analyses in support of USSF and SpOC.
  • Develop test plans and procedures. Develop algorithms software (protocols) or identify vendors who can do the coding
  • Participate in customer meetings.
  • Ensure adherence to master plans and schedules, and develop solutions to program problems.
  • Coordinate with event/incident manager to ensure common understanding and effort to inform and resolve issues.
Required Clearance:
Secret (#secret)

Required Qualifications:
  • 10 years hands on networking and routing experience. 2+ years experience in SDN Controller functionality.
  • Military Space or Cyberspace Operations experience desired
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree and 10 years experience; Active / current CCNP Routing / Switching or equivalent.
  • Additional Cybersecurity certifications such as: CISM, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISA, etc. a plus.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently to meet program goals.
  • Thorough knowledge of Space Systems and network routing protocols such as BGP, BGP-LS, IS-IS. Knowledge of cybersecurity and cybersecurity intelligence a plus. Working knowledge of NSA Commercial Solutions for Classified Multi-Site Connectivity (MSC) Capability Package desired.
  • Linux operating systems (OS) administration and associated hardware. ONOS and ODL SDN controllers.
  • Whiteboxes and merchant silicon vendors and alternatives.
  • Willingness to travel (note- will include both air and ground transportation) to northern California and Washington to support MAXAR and customer briefings.
