Description

Reporting to the Food Service Director, the Chef Manager oversees the day to day operations for the Retail Food Court and Catering operation. This involves, planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating the operation, and managing staff.

This position will be based in St Catharines and will spend an average of 3-4 days a week (or based on business needs). Due to oversight of other locations they will be required to travel to Welland and Niagara Falls and spend an average of 1-2 days per week on site (or based on business needs).  

 

Job Duties:

  • Oversee and Manage aspects of the Operations and provide hands on culinary support when required.
  • Provide support to Supervisors and assist with HR issues such as progressive discipline, performance evaluations, and other administrative HR functions.
  • Ensure quality, courteous service is provided to all customers.
  • Ensure that food and service meet quality control standards.
  • Responsible for inventory controls, food, labor, direct costs, and monitoring  revenues.
  • Assist in staff training and onboarding.
  • Oversee the requisition and purchase all food products
  • Menu development and planning.
  • Preparation of budgets and maintaining food costs and other records.
  • Monitor compliance and ensure proper documentation of Food Safety, Food Production, and Health & Safety standards in accordance with company, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain tracking system (PRIMA) for all Food Safety and Food Production documentation in accordance with company, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Oversees progressive disciplinary, employee relations, hiring, performance review.
  • Supervise and coordinate catering functions and special events for internal and external clients/groups.
  • Ensures adherence to Aramark's policies and procedures.
  • Ensures adherence to Aramark's different health and safety programs.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Hospitality/ Food and Beverage Management or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in Culinary Supervisory position.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Effective Communication Skills, bilingualism considered an asset.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financials.
  • Strong Organization skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Due to travel being a requirement of the position the incumbent will need to have access to a personal vehicle, have a valid drivers license along with a clear drivers abstract.
