The Atlantic Region CBO is seeking a dynamic and talented Clinical Documentation Improvement Nurse.

The Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Nurseprovides clinically based concurrent and retrospective review of inpatient medical records to evaluate the utilization and documentation of acute care services. The goal of concurrent review includes facilitation of appropriate physician documentation of care delivered to accurately reflect patient severity of illness and risk of mortality. Specific reviews are both determined internally and by requirements/requests of external payers or regulatory agencies and play a significant role in reporting quality of care outcomes and in obtaining accurate and compliant reimbursement for acute care services.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's degree from anaccreditedCollege or University in the field of nursing required.
  • Bachelor's degree from anaccreditedCollege or University in the field of nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years recent clinical experience in acute care setting (Critical care, Medical/Surgical or Emergency Medicine) required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience performing CDI reviews in an inpatient acute care setting preferred.
  • In lieu of above Education requirements, Bachelors of Science Degree in Licensed Vocational Nursing and a minimum of 5 years recent clinical experience in an acute care setting (Critical care, Medical/Surgical or Emergency Medicine) required.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

  • Current license as a Registered Nurserequired.
  • Current certifications for Certified Clinical Documentation Specialists (CCDS), Certified Clinical Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) preferred.
