Boulder Creek Academy (BCA) is a premier 50 -bed residential therapeutic boarding school nestled in the beautiful Cabinet Mountains of North Idaho. We pride ourselves on developing and implementing individualized academic and emotional programming for students 13-18 years of age while also supporting families with developing and sustaining lifelong strategies for the school and home environment. Boulder Creek Academy (BCA) currently has an opening for a Career and Technical Education/Industrial Arts Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

* Planning and designing the career and technical education program so that it is consistent with the total educational philosophy of the school

* Designing the career and technical education program to enhance both academic and career and technical skills.

*Preparing educational plans for students based on individually assessed needs in accordance with the school'sphilosophy, goals, and objectives. Using appropriate and varied assessment instruments pertinent to instruction to assess student progress.

* Developing and maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.

* Preparing lesson plans which incorporate varied instructional techniques, multi-media, integration strategies designed to meet the educational, multi-social and emotional needs of the students.

* Taking all necessary and reasonable safety precautions to protect students, materials, equipment and facilities. Maintain a current and accurate inventory of all equipment, tools, and supplies.

* Participating in the in-school staffing, academic team meeting, parent conferences, as requested,and interdisciplinary team planning.

* Assisting in upholding and enforcing school rules, safety rules, administrative regulations, and policies.

* Assisting in the selection of books, equipment and other multi-media instructional materials.

*Public Relations with outside agencies and employers

* Establishing and maintaining cooperative relations with other employees, departments, agencies and schools.

* Assisting in providing information to community groups and parents concerning career and technical education programs.

* Working to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, their parents, as well as business and industry concerning student performance in the career and technical education program.

* Reporting:Ensuring that each student in the program has necessary evaluation records on file. Evaluating student progress on a regular basis, including progress reports and quarterly grades.Communicating student performance progress to parents. Meeting all reporting requirements for the school and related agencies. Providing accurate and timely reports as requested.

* Compliance with facility Service Excellence standards

Job Requirements

*Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree in the area of redemption

*Completion of a valid teacher education program. *Idaho Certification in PE 6-12 within one yr. *Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques in teaching students with social, behavioral or emotional difficulties.

*Considerable skills in the redemption of classroom behaviors, and the ability to present an appropriate adult role model conducive to the effective teaching and emotional growth of at-risk students.

*Expertise in designing and implementing lesson plans.

*Personal strength, stability and a commitment toward quality education.

*Proven ability to communicate with students, faculty and parents, both verbally and in writing.

*Annual salary determined from approved teacher salary scale rating degree and years of validated teaching experience.

*Small classroom sizes (4-9)with opportunities for individual curriculum design.

Candidate will work from a classroom located at Boulder Creek Academy in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Bonners Ferry is located approximately 30 miles north of Sandpoint, Idaho. Sandpoint was recently voted one of the five best small towns in America. (USAToday/RandMcNally)
