Job Description

The purpose of a Business Development Manager (Internal title-LD&T Assistant Supervisor) is to lead and develop strategic transportation partnerships with new and existing customers. Leverage PepsiCos supply chain, assets, and relationships to grow and maintain a $3-5MM book of business in the Plano office with new external customers in year 1. Work cross-functionally with leadership in multiple offices and departments to increase YoY revenue and profitability. Strategically align with our transport capacity teams to deliver on the needs and expectations of a diverse customer base. The role requires a strong-minded sales individual with a whatever it takes mentality.

Scope:

The candidate must be able to effectively balance customer relationships and navigate complex supply chains to offer unique transport solutions that create cost-saving for our customers and drive profitability for Pepsi Logistics. The main role of this job is to prospect, onboard, and develop new customers for PLCI.

Accountabilities:

  • Prospect and cold call new customers to grow PLCI customer base (40-60 calls a day)
  • Daily business development leadership to help the team deliver 2021 profitability goals and beyond
  • Maintain growth with both prospective and current customers
  • Manage, develop, and cultivate new pricing and growth strategies
  • High-level customer service proactive resolution working in cross-functional teams to resolve customer issues
  • Customer escalation point proactive resolution of customer complaints
  • Strong working knowledge of customer's supply chain, requirements, and new initiatives
  • Responsible for strategic conversations with current and new customers within the Pepsi Logistics portfolio
Scope of Interactions:
  • 80% External - New and existing external customers
  • 20% Internal - Collaboration with operations, account management, and leadership team

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 1+ years experience of significantly exceeding expectations in the transportation/logistics industry
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Comfortable making sales cold calls
  • Must be strong in Excel with data analytic skills
  • This position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States

  • Demonstrated an ability to execute under pressure situations and succeed
  • Ability to articulate and transfer knowledge of freight brokerage market dynamics and industry best practices to carrier operations department team
  • Ability to effectively interact and build a favorable business relationship with all carriers and customers
  • Strong team player and committed to teamwork in all situations
  • Ability to thrive and flourish in a fast-paced business start-up
