Business Analytics Manager

About the Position

The individual who excels in this position will manage the development and production of complex analytics for greater understanding of the drivers of growth and value, including member behavior trends, product profitability and business retention and attrition, to support stronger financially sustainability towards our mission of improving our member's lives. This includes working closely with a variety of stakeholders to gather requirements, evaluate data sources, test hypotheses and report results. An important part of this role is to further develop the analytical capabilities of the team including the design, recommendation and implementation of optimizations to the SAS business intelligence platform for analytical and modeling purposes. This role is truly at the crossroads of Finance, Business Strategy and Data.

Normal Day-to-Day Work
  1. Manage the development and production of complex operational, financial and statistical analysis to support CFO division and enterprise objectives.
  2. Lead analytics initiatives to identify root causes, patterns, trends and anomalies in consumer behavior using internal member data.
  3. Identify and recommend refinements as well as sources to data inputs to further evolve analytics and improve data quality, including recommendations for the evolution to the data warehouse, recommend and implement improvements to internal data, and inclusion of relevant external data.
  4. Develop predictive models to project consumer response to changes in market and economic conditions, product pricing, marketing campaigns, and competitive offers.
  5. Liaise with various teams to support ongoing development of the analytics platform and data warehouse, including working with the data management team and other stakeholders on metadata definitions, data models, views and table structures to ensure optimal results.
  6. Work with business model users and internal consumers of analysis and insights to understand analytical needs and requirements, design and implement solutions for financial and business growth optimization and related strategies.
  7. Manage a team of business analysts delivering analytical projects, insights and analysis while managing end user expectations and needs.
  8. Manage and maintain project documentation including requirements gathering, processes and procedures, best practices and results and outcomes.
  9. Develop and manage positive working relationships and cooperation across the organization to meet end user needs, resolve complex issues, and achieve strategic objectives and department goals.
  10. Work closely with VP, Business Analytics and SVP, Finance to drive development, execution, monitoring and evaluation of analytics strategy.

Job Qualifications

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be considered for this position.
  1. Minimum of 4 to 6 years of related experience in business intelligence and statistical model development.
  2. Minimum of 1 to 3 years of management experience.
  3. Significant knowledge and experience using SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Enterprise Miner, SAS Visual Analytics (or comparable tools) and Microsoft Excel.
  4. Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
  5. Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  6. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer printer).
  7. Travel required on occasion.

  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  3. Ability to analyze and document complex data sets.
  4. Ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
  5. Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities.
  6. Must have the ability to learn and apply new software technologies.
  7. Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
  8. Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
