Job Description

Main Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to provide account management services for multiple brokerage customers. Such services include business development, understanding both the customers and PLCIs network, as well as customer collaboration on all logistics matters.

Scope:


Total customer freight under the management of approximately $10-15MM per year. Will be responsible for developing and maintaining a relationship with five to seven top tier accounts.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customer contacts to maintain favorable service perception
  • Strong working knowledge of customers supply chain, requirements, and new initiatives
  • Work with the Customer Solutions team to ensure account KPIs are being met
  • Adapt a growth strategy as necessary for the growth and profitability of accounts
  • Identify potential growth opportunities and evaluate customer needs in order to propose mutually beneficial solutions
  • Use market and pricing knowledge to assist in pricing annual and ad hoc lane commitments
  • Responsible for monthly and quarterly reporting to measure each accounts growth and forecasting expected future growth
Scope of Interactions:
  • 70% External New and existing customers and asset-based carriers
  • 30% Internal - Collaboration with business development, carrier ops, IT, and leadership team

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Ability to effectively interact and build a favorable business relationship with all customers
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate customers needs and provide solutions
  • Drive for Results to excel at customer service and account development
  • Ability to learn key freight brokerage dynamics and industry best practices to excel at the role
  • Ability to learn brokerage pricing techniques and tools to effectively quote freight
  • Ability to effectively negotiate the desired outcome
  • Ability to operate and flourish in a fast-paced business start-up
  • Strong team player and committed to teamwork in all situations
  • Willingness to embrace change and all other assigned duties for the greater good of the team.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant transportation/transportation brokerage experience (at least one year)
