Description

Aramark Canada is looking for a strong Food Service Director: someone who has a passion and experience for culinary, but at the same time has an amazing knack and truly wants to build their career in managing front of the house operations.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Food Service Director will oversee the daily foodservice operations for a Higher Ed. account that is not too big in size, but is considered as one of our high profile accounts. 

 

We are looking for a well rounded leader who has focus on execution of menu planning, catering experience and not being afraid of rolling up their sleeves and being hands on when needed. 

Having someone bilingual with both written and spoken French skills would be considered a huge asset.

 

The Food Service Director will be responsible for the profitable management of these services under contract with the client.  Responsibilities include interaction with the client, customers and employees.  The Food Service Director will provide vision to growing the business.

  • Ensure all operating standards are achieved
  • Grow Catering business through Marketing initiatives
  • Establish and maintain procedures for purchasing, receiving, storage, preparation and service of food
  • Coordinate and supervise personnel regarding production, merchandising, quality and cost control, labour, scheduling, staffing and training
  • Assist front line managers with any operational and staffing issues
  • Train, develop and mentor the management team and establish succession plans
  • Ensure that standards for sanitation and food safety are met
  • Assist in menu planning
  • Prepare business plans, budgets and forecasts
  • Monitor financial operating results in order to achieve company and client objectives
  • Develop new initiatives and programs to improve sales and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all business sectors
  • Maintain records to comply with Aramark, and government standards
  • Ensure compliance with Marketing and Human Resources Programs
  • Ensure adherence to Aramarks policies and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to Aramarks Health and Safety Programs

Qualifications

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Hospitality management or related field
  • Bilingualism in English and French would be an asset (both written and spoken) 
  • Must be able to lead a team of 10 plus and manage all people skills: hiring, performance managing, payroll, scheduling, training, orientation etc. 
  • 5 years progressive management experience in a similar sized operation
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical, project planning, and financial management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers, colleagues and staff
