As a Behavioral Health Care Advocate, you will be responsible for case management and utilization review of behavioral health and substance abuse cases. You'll have a direct impact on the lives of our members as you recommend and manage the appropriate level of care throughout the entire treatment plan.

The hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8 am -5 pm.

If you are located and licensed in the State of Arizona, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

    ""
  • Focus on initial inpatient admission for psychiatric and chemical dependency patients
  • ""
  • Make patient assessments and determining appropriate levels of care
  • ""
  • Obtain information from providers on outpatient requests for treatment
  • ""
  • Determine if additional clinical treatment sessions are needed
  • ""
  • Administer benefits and review treatment plans
  • ""
  • Coordinate benefits and transitions between various areas of care
  • ""
  • Identify ways to add value to treatment plans and consulting with facility staff or outpatient care providers on those ideas

Required Qualifications:

    ""
  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Counseling, Licensed Ph.D., or an RN with 2+ years of experience in behavioral health
  • ""
  • Licenses must be independent, active, and unrestricted in the state of Arizona
  • ""
  • 2+ years ofexperience in a related mental health environment
  • ""
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

  • Experience in an inpatient setting

  • Dual diagnosis experience with mental health and substance abuse

  • Experience working in an environment that required coordination of benefits and utilization of multiple groups and resources for patients

  • Experience in a managed care environment
  • ""
  • Knowledge of insurance benefits, including Medicaid and Medicare
  • ""
  • Knowledge of local and state community resources
  • ""
  • Familiarity with AHCCCS and Division of Developmental Disability standards
