The Individual Life Controllers group, a part of the Individual Life Finance Department, is responsible for internal control over and preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles and analyzing financial results for Prudentials Domestic Individual Life Business.  Employees of the Individual Life Controllers group are required to interact and partner effectively with counterparts in the Actuarial department, Treasurers, Asset and Liability Management (ALM), Corporate SEC Reporting, the GAAP and Statutory Consolidation Reporting groups, Risk Management, Internal Audit, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

    

Individual Life Controllers seeks a Financial Reporting Associate Manager for the Segment and Legal Entity Reporting group.  The Segment and Legal Entity Reporting group is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial results for Prudentials Domestic Individual Life Business including quarterly business analysis utilized by the CEO of the Domestic Insurance Business and Senior Financial Management of Prudential.  The Financial Reporting Associate Manager interacts frequently with business partners in the Individual Life Actuarial department, Agency Distribution Finance, Individual Solutions Expense Reporting, Individual Life Planning and Analysis, the GAAP and Statutory Consolidation Reporting groups, and other areas within Prudential.  The area is also responsible for legal entity reporting to support the filing of the 10-Q and 10-K non-accelerated SEC filers. The successful candidate for this position should possess the ability to manage multiple deliverables concurrently, have strong written and oral communication skills, and interact effectively with key business partners.  The successful candidate will develop a deep understanding of GAAP and Statutory insurance accounting policies and principles, have the opportunity to interact regularly with Senior Management, and will be expected to play a key role in the completion of large projects.

   

Primary responsibilities:    

  • Participate in meetings with key business partners to analyze financial results and develop analytics to be presented to Senior Financial Management and senior leaders in the Individual Life business

  • Preparation of significant quarterly deliverables including; Legal Entity Senior Officers Reporting package, Annotated Quarterly Balance Sheet Analytic, Fund Rolls and supporting completion of Prudential Financial, Pruco and PLNJ 10-Q and 10-K SEC filings

  • Partner with Law, Reinsurance Administration and Reporting & Treasurers in completing the inter-affiliated database recertification

  • Participate in the execution of the SOX program

  • Partner extensively with the Individual Life Actuarial Department and business partners within Life Finance to complete key monthly deliverables, which include Treasury International Capital (TIC) reporting and investment results for the separate account.

  • Seek to improve financial reporting processes and controls through creative solutions

  • Completion of additional ad-hoc requests for Senior Management, key business partners, and other Corporate areas

  • Overtime is required during peak reporting periods and in the case of special projects / deliverables

 



Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum 3-5 years accounting/financial reporting experience

  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with senior business and finance management

  • Strong analytical skills the ability to pay close attention to detail

  • The ability to succeed both independently and as part of team

  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet deadlines

  • Strong PC skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • CPA or MBA is a plus

  • Knowledge of insurance products and financial instruments preferred
