The Legal Division at Edward Jones is looking to add an attorney to its newly established Data and Analytics team, designed to support the firm's initiatives to enhance analytic capabilities and data-driven insights.
The Data and Analytics Attorney will be an integral partner in building out the firm's enterprise-wide data and analytics program by providing legal and business support. This highly impactful role will primarily focus on guiding, advising and providing thought leadership to business areas involved in enhancing and maturing the firm's data and analytics initiatives, including data governance, data management, business intelligence and advanced analytics. The Data and Analytics Attorney will build relationships and engage other attorneys and subject matter experts across the firm to ensure potential issues are identified, analyzed and addressed in a timely and productive manner. Legal colleagues and business partners will also rely on the Data and Analytics Attorney to make recommendations and be part of the solution to identified issues.

*Responsibilities: *
* Integrate Legal into enterprise-wide business intelligence, data governance and data management functions to identify and evaluate information and data risks
* Serve as a liaison between Legal, Firm Analytics, Technology and other stakeholders to drive thought leadership on data and analytics needs and escalate to leadership, as appropriate
* Identify and recommend actionable strategies and processes to eliminate, mitigate and control possible legal, regulatory and business risks related to information and data management
* Lead analytics and business associates in enhancing their understanding of potential risks associated with accessing, using and analyzing data, and partner to address those risks
* Make strategic connections across legal and business initiatives and effectively engage more seasoned attorneys for guidance when operating outside sphere of engagement, with respect to more complex issues or non-routine matters
* Proactively take ownership, consider whether additional facts are needed and seeks that information through own efforts, then guidance from business, through peers or more seasoned attorney
* Partner with team members to enhance the Legal Division's internal data and analytics capabilities
* Actively participate in Legal Division efforts and support continual advancement of team dynamics


* Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) and state bar admission is required
* A minimum of 3 years of experience in a business environment or as an attorney
* Proven ability to regularly spot and analyze issues while formulating a viable recommendation when dealing with issues of moderate complexity
* Strong ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and work professionally in a collaborative manner both internally and externally with others on all levels, as well as vendors
* Experience applying exceptional judgment, work ethic and integrity
* Proven ability to analyze and help resolve matters independently and as part of a team
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence decisions at all levels of the organization
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a dynamic work load and constantly changing priorities, paying close attention to detail and project deadlines
* Demonstrated ability to shift between various topics and apply strategic thinking to identify dependencies and make connections between different efforts
* Knowledge about and experience with data governance and management, information systems, data analytics, privacy and data security is a plus
