The Edward Jones Legal Division is seeking a dynamic thought leader and advisor who can provide pragmatic, solutions-oriented, and actionable legal advice to drive implementation of enterprise-wide, cross-functional privacy and records management initiatives. Responsibilities will also include assisting the firm's Chief Privacy Officer, who leads both the firm's Privacy Program, as well as the Records and Information Management (RIM) Program, including but not limited to, daily operation of the programs; development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures; monitoring program compliance; and investigation and tracking of privacy incidents.

A successful candidate will seamlessly interface with various firm business areas to identify and evaluate privacy and information governance risks. He or she will also assist in the design and implementation of best-in-class strategies and processes to eliminate, mitigate, and control such risks. Candidates should be highly motivated and knowledgeable about privacy, information security, and information governance. The position requires an understanding of program management and an aptitude for implementation of risk mitigation strategies, as well as an ability to influence other firm leaders.

*Responsibility Summary:*
* Support the overall day-to-day operation of the Privacy and Records and Information Management (RIM) Programs by providing legal guidance to business teams in these areas.
* Assist the Chief Privacy Officer with operationalizing the Privacy and RIM Programs to ensure existing and new internal processes, client-facing products and services, and human resources teams comply with federal, state, and provincial legal and regulatory obligations the United States and Canada.
* Assist in the development and management of enterprise-wide procedures to ensure the development of new products and services is consistent with firm privacy policies and legal obligations imposed by federal and state laws and regulations.
* Assist in formal and informal privacy risk assessments to understand the risk landscape and to implement risk mitigation processes and procedures.
* Develop, disseminate, and audit compliance with Privacy and RIM policies.
* Assist in developing privacy and RIM training materials and other communications to increase employee understanding of firm privacy policies, data handling practices and procedures, and legal obligations imposed by federal and state laws and regulations.
* Conduct internal investigations into incidents that involve the loss or misuse of personal information.
* Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal (US and Canada) and state/provincial privacy and records management laws and accreditation standards, and monitor advancements in information privacy and records management technologies to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance.

* Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) and state bar admission (in good standing) required.
* Minimum five years progressive experience in an in-house or law firm environment with a focus on privacy and information security, records management, or information governance required.
* One or more of International Association of Privacy Professionals, Certified Records Manager (CRM), Information Governance Professional (IGP), or a similar certification required.
* Knowledge of, and experience with, federal (US and Canada) and state/provincial privacy, records management, and information-security-related laws, regulations, self-regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
* Aptitude for influencing business leadership and explaining privacy and information security principles.
* Capacity to represent legal perspectives in a large, cross-functional, collaborative environment.
* Strong cross-function collaboration skills and the ability to oversee a large number of ongoing projects.
* Commitment to a high level of ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality.
* Sound judgment, decision making, and conflict resolution skills.
* Highly organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and adaptable to changing priorities.
