**ROLE SUMMARY**



Healthcare is at a point of unprecedented change. The need to respond to rising costs while delivering improved outcomes is pushing healthcare systems globally to evolve from a volume based healthcare system to one that is focused on delivering value. This evolution requires Pfizer to identify and confidently adopt novel approaches that transform the way it engages the healthcare market, secures patient access to its medicines and supports the attainment of equitable affordability solutions. Within the Emerging markets and globally there is need to identify new access solutions for patients with high OOP expenditures for healthcare and our medicines where reimbursement funding is lacking by governments or private payers.



Within the Emerging Markets team, the Affordability Lead is empowered to:



+ Develop affordability strategies for key brands and priority markets

+ Cross pollinate affordability solutions across markets by creating efficiencies for programs and vendors

+ Recommend novel financing mechanisms in the face of more costly innovative therapies

+ Provide input to the global Bold Move 3.2 core team and pull through key metrics to drive our strategic goals

+ Improve launch excellence planning to include affordability strategies and approaches in the lifecycle management with PHI & launch navigator teams

+ Partner with PHI, EM commercial and global stakeholders to ensure cross functional alignment on EM & China affordability initiatives.



The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of success in innovative problem solving, matrix leadership, market access solution development. This leader will be expected to build effective matrix relationships to stay closely connected to financing and reimbursement needs of EM & China markets.



In addition to working cross-functionally within Pfizer, this leader will be required to engage externally with senior leaders from existing customers and other healthcare stakeholders while also identifying new market entrants poised to disrupt the market. This leader will be required to identify which customers are best suited to developing experiments as well as identify how to bring new market entrants into the mix in order to accelerate & scale affordability programs



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ This individual will be required to work closely with cross-functional leaders across Pfizer to:

+ Understand the evolving environment and affordability challenges and monitor and assess the merits and relevance of novel initiatives deployed internally and external to Pfizer

+ Identify and manage the development of new financing/ reimbursement concepts and design of experimentation to validate hypotheses and assumptions

+ Lead the execution of required experiments with market partners (internal and external) and develop detailed plans for scaling, adaptation, or closure

+ Serve as a financing and reimbursement expert to the business and support the scale of best practice access innovation

+ Develop and lead innovative experiments that deliver broader access to medicines hallmarked by value-based principles

+ Lead the development of strategic collaborations with existing, new and emerging customers that have the potential to deliver value based financing and reimbursement innovation.

+ Provide guidance and recommendation to Pfizer leadership on establishment of success metrics, evaluation of progress, and go/no-go determination.

+ Present recommendations to senior leaders across the organization designed to influence change that will enable Pfizer to thrive in a value based market where affordability may be a challenge

+ Reliably develop and maintain critical external stakeholder and customer relationships, in full collaboration with local market or subject matter expert relationship holders across Pfizer.



**QUALIFICATIONS**



Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact



12+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or payer industry. Understands trends in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, aware of competitor strategies, knowledge of healthcare dynamics in EM and/or major global regions / markets, and a well-developed understanding of healthcare pricing, access, and reimbursement processes and landscape challenges



Minimum 5 years of global and/or international healthcare pricing and/or access experience



Ability to influence key stakeholders at senior levels of the organization (Global Presidents, Regional and Market Leaders, Department leaders, and Functional counterparts).



Demonstration of strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to identify alternative scenarios, resulting implications, and development of pragmatic recommendations for direction or action



Ability to understand and translate market and competitive dynamics into strategic implications for Pfizer's business



Understanding of experimentation or pilot processes, with ability to demonstrate impact and drive rapid, fact-based decision making based on results



+ Ability to network and build partnerships/collaborations with



external parties, often at senior levels of customers and partner organizations



Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead with indirect authority



Strong presentation skills sufficient to address Global & Regional Leadership, and external audiences



Prior experience in consulting is preferred, with particular emphasis on Healthcare or Health Policy experience



BA/BS - life sciences degree helpful. MBA preferred



**NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS**



+ Role will require up to 25% travel

+ Role may require irregular hours due to necessity to work with all regions
