**Brief Introduction of Pfizer China**



Pfizer began its operations in China in the 1980's, and has become the No. 1 pharmaceutical company at China by achieving incredible growth in a challenging environment. The annual revenue is at more than US$3Billion, with more than 10% growth every year. This is the only market in the Pfizer worldwide with this level of growth. Business strategy is key to sustaining the growth and maintaining Pfizer's leadership position in China.



**Role overview**



The Associate Director of Business Development is a key role within China Strategy & Business Development (SBD) team, reporting to WWBD Asia BD team lead. The China SBD team oversees Pfizer China Strategy and Business Development effort, working closely with all BUs / Functions at Pfizer China as well as with the Pfizer headquarter functions in the US.



Pfizer China aspires to meeting the unmet healthcare needs of patients in China by working with government, industry partners, academic institutes, and other key stakeholders to develop the China innovative biopharma ecosystem. The growth of the innovative business is driven by the acceleration of pipeline product launches and partnership opportunities across the ecosystem.



The person in this role will lead the effort to drive Pfizer China inorganic growth strategies development and execution in certain therapeutic areas through various kinds of partnerships, including in-licensing / outsourcing products, co-development, acquisitions, and/or joint venture transactions.



**Role key responsibilities**



+ Lead BD strategies development and execution through working closely with management, strategy, Development China, business units, marketing and other functions to capture the strategic growth opportunities

+ Develop creative partnership strategies and models to contribute to Pfizer China growth.

+ Build key relationships and networks amongst potential targets/partners/advisors in and outside of China for the benefit of business objectives and support relationship management with existing partners

+ Lead the complex cross-functional teams and establish significant relationships with key decision makers and industry leaders to develop the key strategies and solid project plans. Lead the most important, complex, controversial or difficult meetings and negotiations with potential clients and business partners to pursue business opportunities and protect the organization's business interests.

+ By working with China Search & Evaluation lead, help identify business development opportunities through broad sourcing strategies both in the domestic market and globally.

+ Lead activities to prioritize opportunity, develop business case, execute transactions, negotiate with partners, request internal approvals and endorsements, to ensure proposed transactions create value for Pfizer through close collaboration with cross functional teams.

+ Help coordinate and support activities including opportunity evaluation, business assessment and financial analysis, due diligence, legal contracts, and other activities critical to a transaction.

+ Coordinate with local BUs and global functions to ensure effective communication, alignment, and implementation of Pfizer China BD activities.

+ Maximize organizational effectiveness by closely working with cross functional teams and liaise with governance groups to ensure timely and effective decision making.



**Functional capabilities and core competencies**



+ Deep understanding of China bio-pharmaceutical industry, landscape, and major therapeutic areas;

+ Understanding of global and China product pipeline and trends

+ Excellent business acumen including strategic and innovative thinking, Analytic skills and financial acumen.

+ Thorough understanding of business development process including opportunity analysis, technology assessment, due diligence, financial analysis, valuation and legal agreements.

+ Excellent leadership, communication skills and project management with demonstrated ability to work and lead across functional teams.

+ Strong capability to manage complex project, strong coordination/communication skills with demonstrated ability to work and lead cross functional teams

+ Strong interpersonal and networking skills both with internal and external key stakeholders.

+ Strong capability in people development and building effective team.

+ Excellent communication both in Chinese and English.



**Qualifications**



+ At least 10 years working experiences in biopharmaceutical industry, with more than 5 years in business development.

+ Established track record of completing successful business development transactions.

+ University graduates required, postgraduateor MBA qualification inhealthcare-related discipline strongly preferred

+ Medical, Pharmacy, biological sciences or business related

+ Excellent English and Chinese
