Our Air, Space, & Strategic Defense Division supports the warfighter by offering Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, Logistics, Network, IoT, and other advanced capabilities to Air Force Space Command (AFSPC). This program provides rapid innovation and acquisition support to the Chief Scientists office at Space and Missile Command (SMC).

AT&T has an opening for a Senior Space Logistics Systems Engineer for Acquisition and Development Systems to support SMC/ZAT in providing Prototype Development and Execution Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Work with the SMC Chief Scientist to identify and develop innovative, pervasive and game-changing space technology initiatives with a focus on space logistics and trusted autonomy. The candidate shall provide technical planning and road mapping support to shape the future of the USSF Enterprise Architecture. The candidate shall provide technical mentorship to SMC personnel with respect to experience and understanding of system engineering, overall knowledge of pervasive technology sets, critical thinking concerning game-changing capabilities, and solutions to current threat environments for National Security Space (NSS) customers. The candidate shall provide active participation in critical technologies and defense industrial base management for NSS with experience in cross-domain architectures and Life Cycle Logistics. The position is full time on-site at LA AFB.
  • Identify and guide development of space logistics and trusted autonomy technologies, consult on the best use of research and development initiatives, and create relationships for transition to programs of record and/or commercialization opportunities; sources include Internal Research and Development (IRAD), Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), Commercialization Readiness Program (CRP), Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF), Space Enterprise Consortium Other Transaction Authority (SpEC OTA), Industry Days, Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS), etc.
  • Expertise in in-space autonomous versus tele-operated capability used to conduct space logistics of rapid maneuver, Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO), fueling, cluster flight, inspection, and in-space servicing including grappling, docking, and robotic integration and assembly. This capability assumes robust cybersecurity, ensuring safe and reliable operations; i.e. take untrusted parts and create trusted systems that ensures operational attestation, attribution, and assurance
  • Assist with the OSD Rapid Innovation Fund (RIF) program
  • Assist the Government PM with OSD program management
  • Interact with the SOD RIF PM on a monthly basis
  • Work with Program Control to verify funding
  • Generate Memorandum for Record (MFR) technical and cost evaluations
  • Perform fact-finding sessions with potential small businesses of RIF projects
  • Work with the Contract Office in awarding and execution of RIF projects
  • Update the RIF website with pertinent information
  • Assist with managing the S&T RIF share drive library
  • Assist the Chief Scientist with special S&T Projects
  • Develop acquisition strategies to support key development planning and other high priority AD activities
  • Support development planning, concept engineering, and technology demonstrations to ensure risk reduction
  • Analyze, trade-off and optimize SWAP-C for space logistics and trusted autonomy technologies in order to rapidly transition to programs of record and commercialization
  • Assist the Government in creating acquisition materials enabling Request For Information (RFI) execution
  • Improve communication between the acquisition organization and program functional areas
Required Clearance:
TS/SCI eligible (mandatory) - Secret (minimum) #secret

Required Qualifications:
  • 15+ years experience (preferred) in technological insight for applications to NSS
  • Bachelor of Science Degree or higher
  • Understanding of the government R&D process for NSS systems
  • Experience with creation of new NSS technology development projects
  • Experience as primary investigator on R&D or Advanced Systems
  • Experience with business-case evaluation for NSS vendors
  • Active participant within the past 12 months in at least one current critical technology or defense industrial base project applicable to NSS with experience in NSS standards
  • Ability to interpret and apply DoD policies to program plans and objectives
Desired Qualifications:
  • Current/Active TS/SCI
  • Experience working with military and other government representatives, FFRDC (e.g. Aerospace) representatives, and SMCs prime contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors
  • DOD program office experience with understanding of DOD acquisition process and compliance with government instructions
  • Experience with technical mentorship
  • Experience with Small Business Innovation Research or 'Title Three' topics, proposals, and proposal evaluation
  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), or equivalent Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) focus
  • Familiarization with major space-faring agencies in United States
  • MS Office Suite
