As an Accounting Consultant supporting M&A integration, you will be challenged to manage the dynamic and complex process of integrating recently acquired entities into Optumcare California. This role will focus heavily on problem solving, stakeholder management, and synergy identification. Ideal candidates will be proactive self-starters, who thrive under pressure and deliver exceptional results.

We are responsible for completing the financial and valuation analyses that support the purchase price we decide to pay for an acquisition target, as well as playing a part in the overall M&A process. We receive access to senior management within the organization and have an opportunity to build relationships with and learn from these key decision makers. We also coordinate and execute various special projects (e.g., industry research, strategic planning, and new business initiatives) with executive and business senior leadership primarily related to the evaluation of potential growth opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the acquisition of practice groups across the entire OptumCare California organization ranging from small practices with a small group of providers to multi-specialty multiple physician groups with 20+ physicians.
  • ""
  • Manage the integration of new acquisitions into OptumCare California
  • ""
  • Oversee the completion of financial and valuation analyses that support the purchase price we ultimately pay for an acquisition target, as well as coordinate and execute the overall M&A process
  • ""
  • Lead, coordinate and execute various special projects with executive and business senior leadership, primarily related to the evaluation of potential growth opportunities
  • ""
  • Prepare and analyze financial models
  • ""
  • Research M&A candidates, including qualitative, financial and valuation analyses
  • ""
  • Establish and develop key relationships within the organization; serve as a primary interface between the acquisition and corporate departments
  • ""
  • Identify cost savings synergies and accelerate their realization
  • ""
  • Organizing and conducting due diligence on potential acquisition targets
  • ""
  • Working as a key liaison to business segments, transaction advisors and acquisition targets
  • ""
  • Serve as an advocate and key resource to acquisitions during the integration process
  • ""
  • After close of acquisition perform integration type tasks such as:""

    • Conversion of cash basis to accrual basis if necessary
    • """
    • Convert to a 2-day close timeline as all other integrated businesses
    • """
    • Perform general ledger mapping from existing chart of accounts to PeopleSoft chart of accounts
    • """
    • Implement use of Blackline tool (account reconciliation) for acquisition
    • """
    • Integrate and align acquisition entity to UHG functional teams such as Real Estate, Treasury, Taxes, AP & Payroll

  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • ""
  • 3+ years of financial and/or accounting experience
  • ""
  • Experience with valuation methodologies
  • ""
  • Experience handling multiple, complex and competing priorities and projects
  • ""
  • Experience communicating with a variety of levels of constituents
  • ""
  • Experience and comfortability with the uncertainty of a dynamically changing environment
  • ""
  • Demonstrated ability to drive project plan results and holding participants accountable
  • ""
  • Ability to work multiple time zones to support business needs
  • ""
