The Hughes Center, located in Danville, VA, is a provider of residential treatment services for boys and girls ages 10-22 diagnosed with an intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder.  The Hughes Educational Center is a community-based day school and residential education program for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.  Flexible schedule, rewarding work environment, and competitive compensation are a few of the benefits of being a therapist at The Hughes Center.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in a human services field.
  • Licensed or License eligible for LPC or LCSW


Job Requirements


Key Responsibilities:     

  1. Provides psychotherapy services for residents to include individual, family and group therapy scheduling and facilitation of treatment team reviews and documentation.

  2. Attends all treatment teams for assigned residents.

  3. Attends weekly clinical supervision.

  4. Coordinates multifamily/group/family education group.

  5. Staff training

  6. On call/weekend coverage

  7. Completes all program notes within 24 hours of session.

  8. Completes psychosocial assessment within 72 hours of admission.

  9. Completes charge tickets daily and turns in to DCS.

  10. Completes Individual Service Plans on the appropriate schedule.

  11. Other duties as assigned based on the needs of the facility



    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities


    A combination of mental health experience and relevant education to deliver psychotherapy services to consumers.  The required knowledge, skills, and abilities must be documented and observable in the application form and interview and can be verified by additional references.



Education &

Experience                       At least a Master’s Degree in human services field (i.e. psychology, social work, counseling, education)

                                          At least one year recent experience with appropriate population preferred


Licensure                         Licensed with or license eligible for LPC or LCSW
