The Candidate that is chosen will support the Behavioral Health Division of UHS nationwide.

The Milieu Management Specialist provides oversight, consultation, training, and monitoring of facilities in the area of therapeutic milieu management.  Milieu management includes program content and philosophy, patient management training, level systems, environmental management, and staff competency.

Travel is extensive, as 80 percent of your time will be traveling to and supporting our facilities.

The successful Milieu Management Specialist will:

  • Performs assessments and recommendations related to therapeutic milieu management at assigned facilities.
  • Provides on-site guidance and monitoring of facilities that need additional clinical support to address identified issues.
  • Assists in the development of Performance Improvement practices related to milieu management in facilities. Works with facilities to set expectations, develop plans, and manage processes to measure, assess and improve the quality of clinical programs and the therapeutic milieu by quantifiable results in facilities.
  • Provides group and individual training to facility staff on milieu management, and related topics through formal training sessions and mentoring direct care staff in the patient care areas.
  • Seeks methods to improve current facility practices/processes/clinical products by identifying problems and proposing solutions, as necessary to include program review and clinical systems review as related to milieu management.
  • Investigates, in collaboration with the facility leaders, any quality concerns such as those received from state and federal agencies including the Corporate Compliance program.  Prepares, in collaboration with appropriate disciplines, action plans and submits responses within designated time frame.

Job Requirements
  • Five to ten years of professional experience in a mental health setting, with a working knowledge of team development, program management, and milieu management. 
  • Clinical degree preferred, or 8-10 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of performance improvement principles including data analysis.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles.
  • Highly developed organizational, interpersonal, management and communication skills. 
  • Strong skills in oral and written communication and proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and quality, performance and peer review information. 
  • At least 80 percent travel required.
