Kingwood Pines Hospital is a 116 bed facility located in the beautiful residential Kingwood community.  We are located about 30 miles northeast of the Houston Medical Center.  The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services.  We serve children, adolescents, and adults for psychiatric and behavioral health.  The hospital also has services in intensive outpatient and partial hospital program services.


Kingwood Pines Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Infection Control Specialist/Employee Health Nurse. The Infection Control/Employee Health Nurse educates and ensures facility practice and reporting compliance with all state regulations, Joint Commission and CDC regulations.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure facility practice and reporting compliance with all state and county regulations, Joint Commission and CDC regulations.
  • Observe, evaluate and ensure techniques and practices related to healthcare associated disease prevention occur as appropriate, at all levels of healthcare.This includes evaluation of adequacy of supplies, utilization and accessibility of hand washing products.
  • Perform routine surveillance activities, including prompt investigation of any “cluster” infection events.
  • Investigate healthcare workers exposed to communicable diseases and coordinates necessary treatment with occupational health.
  • Report infection control patient and staff infection issues, results of infection control rounds and recommendation for revised practices or equipment to EOC and PI monthly.
  • Provide formal and informal education programs to staff at orientation and during rounds, surveillance activities or upon request.
  • Annually evaluate the effectiveness of the Infection Control Program.
Job Requirements


Position Requirements:

  • Education:  Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with at least an Associate Degree of Nursing. BSN is (highly) preferred.
  • Experience: Two years of psychiatric experience.
  • Licensure: Required – Current Texas RN license, current certification in infection control by the Certification   Board of infection Control.
  • Additional Requirements:   Must complete and maintain training in CPR and HWC – aggression management, crisis intervention and restraint training. Training may be obtained during first week of employment during new hire orientation.
