At Meraki, we’re making IT easier, faster, and smarter. Our full stack teams build and maintain our web application, which manages millions of network devices from our cloud. Our customers use the Meraki dashboard to monitor and configure critical IT infrastructure that serves tens of millions of people every single day.

In this role, you will lead a 2-5 person team dedicated to the MX Security Appliance. The MX Dashboard team enables our customers to unlock the advanced routing and security functionality of the MX. To accomplish this, you and your team will work in close collaboration with firmware developers who implement the device side of these features.

You will take on technical projects in Meraki Dashboard, support your team as they grow in their career, and partner with product managers to define our development roadmap. Your role will also include monitoring the health of Dashboard and scaling it to meet our customers' growing needs.

Responsibilities of the MX Dashboard Team Lead:

  • Collaborating with firmware engineers to craft an intuitive customer-facing interface for new networking and security features
  • Being a source of expertise for MX Dashboard team members and MX firmware developers alike
  • Devising innovative, scalable approaches that help large customers deploy thousands of devices easily and efficiently
  • Planning and tracking timelines for your team, communicating to the broader team when things change
  • Writing performance evaluations and supporting the professional growth of everyone on your team
  • Identifying gaps in your team’s knowledge or ability, then working with our recruiters on targeted hiring efforts
  • Being a part of the leadership of the larger MX team: weighing in on development priorities, projects going on across the team, etc.

You are an ideal candidate if you have:

  • Experience in designing, scaling, and debugging large web applications
  • Strong familiarity in at least one of these languages: Ruby, Python, Scala, Javascript, and a modern web framework like Ruby on Rails or Django
  • An understanding of database internals (we use PostgreSQL) and comfort writing raw SQL
  • Leadership or mentorship experience on projects involving substantial planning and coordination (either in a formal role or not)

Bonus points for experience with any of the following:

  • Networking protocols and technology (e.g. configuring and debugging routers or switches)
  • One or more front-end Javascript frameworks such as React or Angular
