Sodexo is seeking an energetic and innovative Food Service Manager 3 to join our team at George Mason University located in Fairfax, VA.


This position will oversee the Johnson Center Atrium food court. The Johnson Center Atrium food court is the largest on Fairfax campus and brings students together before and after class to share and discover great ideas over great meals.

The Food Service Manager responsibilities include, but not limited to: Customer Service, management of staffing, oversight for the unit's food and physical safety program, maintaining high service standards and cash handling. The Food Service Manager will have a direct active role in managing the daily operations related to finance, cost controls, customer service and provide strategic leadership to exceed customer and client expectations. The best qualified candidates will be extremely organized and have a broad understanding of food service operations and must be able to manage multiple projects while performing day-to-day duties and responsibilities of the position. The position demands that candidates be results and people oriented.

  • Directs daily operations of food quality and customer service in a cash handling retail food operation that includes branded concepts, in-house formats and signature designs to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources to perform their jobs and meet goals, cost controls and deadlines.
  • Manages cash handling protocols and control procedures according to Sodexo policies.
  • Reviews and tracks unit sales of product groups or items to control inventory and for menu and pricing management.
  • Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct and motivate.
  • Establishes a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment maintenance and by ensuring compliance with Sodexo safety and loss prevention programs.
  • Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to employees.
  • Maintains current Servsafe certification and any locally-required certifications.


Position Summary

Provides supervision for multi-functional food service areas at an account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the Company.  Contributes to account revenue and operating profit through the implementation of Sodexo programs while executing against Standard Operating Procedures.Key Duties- Maintains and develops client relationships and customer satisfaction for multi-functional food service areas to ensure account retention and positive public relations - Establishes and maintains a safe work environment- Supervises day-to-day work activities by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards- Utilizes Sodexo resources and programs to ensure operating standards and regulatory requirements are met and employees have the necessary equipment and inventory - Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct and motivate in order drive a high-level of employee engagement   



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree Basic Management Experience - 2 years Basic Functional Experience 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
