Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef for Washington, D.C.!  This is a large, high profile account located at the U.S. House of Representatives, feeding US Congressmen, staff, and tourists that visit the Capitol on a daily basis. We are looking for a motivated individual to lead our culinary team at the Longworth Cafe. This position will oversee 25 Sodexo culinary staff supporting day shift (5:30am start time).  Experience managing a Union account is critical for the success of this position.  Our business continues to grow and we offer excellent advancement opportunities to successful team members. 


This account has 10 branded stations that include an Asian Station, My Dish, and Chef's Table to name a few.  This is a destination for politicians, diplomats, and savvy diners whith an appreciation for sophisticated food and ambiance.  The successful candidate will have a high level of food production experience and incorporate culinary skill to provide the highest quality food in the industry.  A high degree of food presentation is required.  Training and development of the staff is job one.  Client satisfaction, cost controls, and food & physical safety are also key skills needed for the success of this role. 


Responsibilities include:

  • Financial Responsibility (food and labor cost)
  • Managing the daily food production
  • Hands on cooking
  • Ensuring Sodexo Culinary Standards including recipe compliance and food quality
  • Menu planning
  • Inventory & Food Waste Management
  • Coaching, training and development the culinary team
  • Must be ServSafe Certified
  • The ability to be bilingual in Spanish would assist in managing this workforce.
  • Strong preference for certified chef candidates, but open to those with a high degree of experience



This position offers a traditional Business and Industry, predominantly Monday through Friday, schedule. Accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation per year (first year pro-rated based on date of hire).  Medical Benefits, including 401K with company match eligibility.

Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a medium sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training.  Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution.  Key Duties- Implements & coordinates the culinary function.  - Directs & trains cooks & utility workers.- Ensures food preparation & production meets operational standards.- Manages catering & retail areas.- Customer & Client satisfaction.- Financial management to include food cost & labor management.-  Manages food & physical safety programs.


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree  Basic Management Experience - 2 years Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.Sodexo is an EEO/AA/Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran employer.
