GGY-AXIS Asset Research and Testing – Modeling COE Position – Director, Actuary

This position is in the Research and Testing unit of the Modeling Center of Excellence (COE), which is a centrally organized modeling team promoting best practices and process improvements through collaboration and talent mobility. The Research and Testing team is responsible for research of user modeling needs, proof of concept development, and model testing in GGY AXIS. The team will also interface with users to provide GGY AXIS consultative services. The Modeling COE associate will work closely with associates from the business units, the Valuation COE, and other Modeling COE teams. This function will enforce consistent system design across GGY AXIS models, mitigating and arbitrating issues and risks for model development.

The individual will have the opportunity to develop skills in GGY AXIS, Visual Basic, advanced MS Excel, advanced MS Access, SQL, and C# during the process of research and testing of Prudential’s actuarial models. Any experience in the aforementioned areas will be a plus.

This role is within the GGY-AXIS Asset sub-team, and will be heavily involved in the research, design and testing of enhanced reinvestment strategies within the GGY-AXIS platform, developing a deep understanding of multiple asset types and ALM concepts, while driving more robust asset modeling capabilities across the company.

The individual should also possess advanced quantitative and analytical skills which will be key to solving complicated business and/or actuarial problems and communicating technical concepts to a wide audience. Strong communication, documentation and testing skills are desired.

 


 

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• FSA or close to FSA preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of actuarial experience required.
• Experience in model development, implementation and/or validation a plus.
• Experience with GGY AXIS is a plus.
• Knowledge of life insurance, annuity and retirement products is a plus.
• Superior technical skills and ability to understand complex quantitative concepts and models.
• Strong communication skills to be able to explain complex concepts to non-actuarial business partners.
• Programming experience including MS Excel and Visual Basic preferred.
