UHS owns and operates 218 locally-managed facilities, including 25 acute care hospitals, 187 behavioral health facilities and six ambulatory surgery centers in 36 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Hospital is seeking a Director of Performance Improvement/Risk Management to grow with us as we expand. JOB SUMMARY:   The Director of Performance Improvement/Risk Management is fully responsible for directing and monitoring the facility-wide quality assurance program and activities while ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory agencies. Oversees effective implementation of quality and performance improvement processes. Develops and oversees workplace education on privacy and security policies, procedures, and expectations in these areas. Ensures information confidentiality, integrity, and availability to meet regulatory requirements and accepted business practices. Responsible for making recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of the facility, maintain, update and ensure practice of all hospital policies and procedures to provide a safe, secure, therapeutic and professional environment at all times. To lead by example and champion the philosophy of Service Excellence. This individual serves as a key member of hospital leadership team.


Job Requirements

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.


Education:     Bachelors required, Masters preferred in behavioral health, nursing or healthcare related field.


Experience:   Previous management experience, knowledge of and experience with regulatory and survey standards and accreditation processes for behavioral hospital required. Recent experience in Quality Outcomes in healthcare. Experience in quality assurance, risk management and hospital operations. Experience in information privacy laws, access, release of information, and release control technologies. Experience in and the ability to apply principles of Health Information Management project management and change management.


Licensure/Certification:  Certification as CPHQ and Six Sigma preferred.


Knowledge:  Possesses knowledge of  principles of risk management and performance improvement related to a health care environment. Current knowledge of regulating /accrediting agency guidelines. Knowledge of Joint Commission, DCFS, DHS and IDPH. State and federal law and/or regulatory requirements. Basic knowledge of computer skills and statistical analysis desired.
