Prudential’s Finance IT organization is actively seeking an experienced Team Lead to provide leadership and technical expertise across multiple applications. We are looking for a hands-on technologist with strong background in designing and building modular,scalable, testable systems using cutting edge technologies preferably in the Financial Services or Actuarial domains. Knowledge of software design patterns, agile methodologies, and the Software Development Lifecycle is required.

You will work closely with project stakeholders to design and lead the development and evolution of our strategic architecture to support current and future business needs. You will be challenged to influence technical direction, develop and review detailed implementation designs, and be accountable for the stability and extendibility of your applications. You will drive successful delivery through the full SDLC including development, deployment, testing and support of the applications. You will be responsible for managing a team of developers and working closely with functional counterparts. Your team will develop new and enhance existing Oracle BI Models to support the organization’s reporting layer. You will also be responsible for implementing Business Process Management Work Flows and notifications to enhance
the end user experience. Additional responsibilities include java application
development to support several existing processes. The team will also respond to trouble tickets and provide support and responses to customer inquiries in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordination of development team efforts toward planned goals and milestones as set forth with stakeholders and according to internal change management standards
  • Providing a high level of customer service by delivering functionality according to our SLAs and responding to customer requests in a timely manner
  • Maintaining open communication with functional and technical partners to ensure goal alignment, consistent expectations and efficient pipeline development
  • Growth and professional development of team members
  • Ongoing assessment of emerging technologies and if/how they can be leveraged to improve our capabilities
  • Identifying opportunities to introduce automation into manual business and
    technical processes

Technical Qualifications: 

  • Hands on experience with Oracle Databases, including but not limited to:
    • Creation and maintenance of transactional table structures 
    • Storage and partitioning strategy for very large data sets
    • Query performance tuning
    • Creation and maintenance of stored procedures and functions
  • Hands on Experience in Data Modeling
  • Experience with Web Applications, preferably J2EE-based
    Java knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Oracle BI, Power Bl, Tableau would be a plus.
  • Experience with GIT and Jenkins is a plus.

Leadership Qualifications:

  • Experience mentoring team members as well as helping them set and achieve goals for growth in their careers. This includes regular one on one meetings as well as the creation of formal performance evaluations and action plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate technical solutions to business terminology and goals
  • An ownership mentality and entrepreneurial approach, including comfort with intelligent risk taking
  • Management of distributed teams is a plus.

Business Knowledge:

  • An understanding of basic Finance and Actuarial principles would be helpful but not required.
